What is the Soul?

We have an outer self, the personality, existing in the outer physical world of matter. At the same time we have an inner self, the soul, which exists and lives on the inner spiritual planes, simultaneously. The soul is eternal evolving through millions of experiences through different lifetimes. You are that immortal soul.

You have four lower bodies through which your soul evolves and expresses itself: an etheric body (which corresponds to the fire element), a mental body (which corresponds to the air element), an emotional body (which corresponds with the water element), and a physical body (which corresponds to the earth element).

Your etheric body would be considered the envelop of the soul.  It is through this etheric web that your spirit, also known as your higher self, sends messages and impressions to the you that is here evolving on earth. How clear and aligned each of your bodies are will determine the clarity of the impressions and guidance that you receive from your higher self.

The soul is the quality which manifests every life form. It is that subtle something which distinguishes one thing from another, one mineral from the next. It is the intangible essential nature of all form, which in the vegetable kingdom, for example, determines whether something is a rose or a cauliflower; or whether an elm or a watercress shall come into being. It is the soul that distinguishes the varying species of the animal kingdom. It also makes one man different from another in their appearance, nature and character. The soul is the form-building aspect in life, that factor in all forms, which drive all of Godís creations forward along the path of evolution, through one kingdom after the next. All of creation is moving toward an eventual goal and a glorious consummation.

Your memories, interests, enthusiasms, thoughts, feelings, aspirations all comprise your soul.  No two souls are alike, because no two souls have the exact same experiences or perception of these experiences. The light of the soul is like an immense searchlight, the beams of which can be turned in many directions and focused on many levels, all at the same time.

Your soul is different than the physical body that you drag around. Your physical body demands nearly all of your strength, time and energy to nourish, clothe, house, protect, transport it from place to place, exercise and amuse it.  Then, on top of all of that, you have to give it eight hours of sleep each night to rest. You soul needs none of this.

So you see, down here on earth we easily begin to believe that we are this physical body and identify with it as our true self, which it is not.   Our true self, the soul, is only borrowing this physical vehicle, an animal vehicle at that, to experience this dimension of reality, this dimension of duality where we make things good or bad, right or wrong.

Sometimes you are all soul-full. For instance, when you allow yourself to get carried away and become absorbed in something like music, poetry, flowers, scenery, deep meditation, contemplation, then do you function in your soul. But more often than not, especially when your body is sick and complaining are you mostly in your body. Nevertheless, your soul is yourself, as you really are, and as you shall gloriously be after the change we so-call death. Here is when you migrate to the astral realms, the fourth dimension.

Everyone has a soul. Just as in biological age where there are many ages from infant on up to the elderly, so too are there many different ages of souls.  The soul comes to earth to experience. It is through experience that the soul grows and evolves. Here on the earth plane the soul has its greatest opportunity for growth. This small little ball called earth is one of the most coveted places in our sector of the universe, for this very reason. I know many of you will find this hard to believe.

The soul actually occupies a place in your body and has weight.  It is said that it weighs l3 ounces and sits to the right of the heart.  The seat of the soul is said to sit in the second chakra or your creative center. Remember this about the soul: the greater the soul is the more inclusive the person will be; the younger the soul is, the more exclusive the person will be.

The soul is as yet unknown and understood on the earth. It has no real place in the scientific world. It is unproven and still regarded as a possible hypothesis. It is not accepted as a fact in the consciousness of the race.

In the future, the soul will be regarded with as much importance as any of the views that are presented today by our leading scientists. The study of the soul will, before long, be a legitimate and respected field of investigation, in the same way that research into the nature of the atom was decades ago.  The investigation of the soul and the laws that govern it will capture the attention of our finest minds one day. A newer psychology will eventually succeed in proving the fact of its existence. Man's intuitive nature and instinctive responses, which emanate from the invisible side of life, will steadily and successfully prove the existence of a spiritual entity in man, an entity all-wise, immortal, divine and creative.
